Our 7 Arms Agencies
The Ministry of Basic Education, Jigawa State, operates through several key agencies and departments, each with a unique mandate to promote access, quality, and accountability in the basic education sector. These agencies work collaboratively to ensure that every child in the state receives foundational knowledge, life skills, and equal learning opportunities.

🫠State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB)
The SUBEB is responsible for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of Universal Basic Education (UBE) programs across the state. It oversees the construction and renovation of schools, teacher recruitment and training, provision of learning materials, and community engagement. -
🛠Agency for Nomadic and Almajiri Education
This agency focuses on delivering inclusive education to nomadic children and Almajiri pupils by integrating traditional systems into formal learning structures. It implements tailored curricula, mobile schools, and flexible learning schedules that accommodate the lifestyles of these unique groups. -
📘 Adult and Non-Formal Education Agency
Committed to lifelong learning, this agency manages adult literacy programs, skills development centers, and non-formal education initiatives across communities. It empowers out-of-school youths, women, and adults with literacy and vocational training to enhance their participation in economic and civic life. -
🫠Education Resource Centre (ERC)
The ERC serves as the academic and professional development wing of the ministry. It develops teaching materials, conducts curriculum research, organizes training for educators, and supports continuous improvement in pedagogy and learning outcomes. -
🢠Local Education Authorities (LEAs)
Operating at the grassroots level in all 27 Local Government Areas, the LEAs coordinate and supervise public basic schools within their jurisdictions. They ensure that education policies are effectively implemented at the community level.
